Herb Day is southern Ohio born and raised, living in the Hillsboro, OH area for most of his life for the exception of time spent in Elizabethtown, Ky where he owned a 1000-watt AM radio station. Herb’s earliest ambitions leaned in the direction of country music and Nashville. Thinking that if “Plan A” didn’t work, he’d need a “Plan B”, thus his radio career was born. While chasing that musical “Neon Rainbow”, Herb was able to work with some of the Opry greats by opening shows for Johnny Paycheck, Marty Robbins, Jack Greene, Jeannie Seely and others.
However, that road to country music greatness is a long and rocky road, and the desire to raise a family shifted Herb’s focus to radio. In addition to purchasing and operating his own station, the years found him on the air at such stations as WSRW AM/FM in Hillsboro, OH, WUBE-FM in Cincinnati, OH, The New 96.5 and WBOB in Cincinnati, WPFB-FM in Middletown, OH, WMNI-AM in Columbus, OH and WOBO in Batavia, OH.
He is also an inductee to the Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame. Herb is married, and he and his wife Patty have 4 children (1 deceased) and 13 grandchildren. They currently reside in Hillsboro, OH.
